Study Tour alumnus Keegan Marsh wins Global Citizenship Award

We’re excited to congratulate 2023 Geneva Tour participant Keegan Marsh for winning the Global Citizenship Award at Deakin University.

Keegan had this to say about his journey to this award (taken from his LinkedIn):

“I am honoured to announce that I have been awarded the Global Citizenship Award by Deakin University earlier this year. This award recognises students who have demonstrated outstanding global citizenship through their engagement in a range of activities that develop and showcase their interpersonal and intercultural capabilities across diverse cultural contexts and global environments.

My professional experience began with remote internships with clients in India and Indonesia, which enriched my understanding of global perspectives and professional practices. Following these internships, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in diverse academic environments by studying abroad at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy, Mahidol University in Thailand, and Masaryk University in Czechia.

One of the highlights of my journey was participating in a United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) study tour of the United Nations Office at Geneva, complemented by a corresponding hybrid internship through Deakin University. These experiences have significantly shaped my professional skills and intercultural capabilities, equipping me to navigate and contribute to a globalised work environment effectively.

Receiving the Global Citizenship Award underscores the importance of intercultural understanding and respect, which are crucial for the success of graduates, organisations, and communities. It reflects my commitment to promoting global peace, security, and sustainable development through my academic and professional endeavours.”
