The UNAAV Young Professionals Network (UNAAV YP) provides opportunities for young professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 to interact with like-minded people and learn more about international issues, the United Nations and the work of UN associations in Australia and Victoria.
The UNAAV YP regularly runs social, networking events and undertakes advocacy and engagement activities. In 2018, the Young Professionals are co-hosting the SDGs event series, 17 SDGs in 2018, with the Victorian Division.
The UNAAV YP has also led the UNAA’s advocacy on human trafficking, with the publication of an Issues Paper on Australia’s Human Trafficking Visa Framework, UNCover. This paper was turned into a submission to the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade’s Inquiry into a Modern Slavery Act.
Many of the changes recommended by the Joint Standing Committee in its final report, Hidden in Plain Sight, were in line with the Advocacy Committee’s recommended actions.Click here to read UnCover Click here to read the submission
