German Language Model UN Conference for Victorian VCE Students

The Languages Unit, Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Association of German Teachers of Victoria (AGTV) are excited to announce that they will be hosting a German Model UN Conference on Friday 23 June, 2017 on the very important topic of Combating Climate Change: Committing to Global Action.  The event will be held at Treasury Theatre, 1 MacArthur Place, Lower Plaza, East Melbourne VIC 3002. VCE German students are invited to participate. There is no cost for participating schools.

The Model UN Conference is a creative simulation of the UN General Assembly in which students represent member states of the UN. In teams of 3 or 4, students will try to negotiate a new UN Resolution on Combating Climate Change. The Model UN Conference is an opportunity for students to learn about the UN system, discuss global issues and practice their diplomacy skills in a fun, dynamic environment, while developing key negotiation and public speaking skills.

The Model UN Conference is being managed by the United Nations Association of Australia (Victorian Division) in partnership with AGTV and sponsored by the Languages Unit, DET. It will run over the full school day and all proceedings will be in German. All student materials and instructions for teachers to prepare their students will be provided by the UNAA Victoria.

Registrations for this event have now closed. If you have any questions about the German Language Model UN Conference please contact Education Program Coordinator Alexandra Edge at the below email or on (03) 9607 1363. We look forward to having your schools involved.
