DET-Sponsored Footscray City College Model UN Conference 2017

Footscray City College are excited to announce that they will be hosting a DET-Sponsored UNAA Victoria Model UN Conference on Wednesday 2 August, 2017 for students between years 10 and 12 on the very important topic of Hear My Voice: Recognising the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Your students are invited to participate. There is no cost for participating students and schools. The Model UN Conference will run over the full school day. All student materials and instructions for teachers to prepare their students will be provided by the UNAA Victoria.

The Model UN Conference is a creative simulation of the United Nations General Assembly in which students represent member states of the UN. In teams of 3 or 4, students will try to negotiate a new UN Resolution on Hear My Voice. The Model UN Conference is an opportunity for students to learn about international relations, the UN system and global issues in a fun, dynamic environment, while developing negotiation and public speaking skills.

The Model UN Conference is being managed by the United Nations Association of Australia (Victorian Division) in partnership with Footscray City College. UNAA Victoria acknowledges the support of the Department of Education and Training through the Strategic Partnerships Program.

Registrations for this event are now closed.  For those schools that are registered for the FCC Model UN Conference next month, we look forward to having your students involved.
