Looking back at the 2025 Study Tour UN in Geneva…
Wet conditions for the first day of the 2025 UNAA Study Tour to the UN in Geneva could not dampen the group’s enthusiasm for entering the Palais des Nations.
The tour started off with a briefing from the UN Office in Geneva (UNOG), emphasising the need to focus on communicating the significance of the UN’s humanitarian work. Thank you, Philippe Hug (Head, NGO Liaison Unit), with UNOG Press Officers, Margaux Creagh & Miles Neale.
Next up was a briefing from Finn Carlson (Senior Education Officer @ WFUNA) discussing the role of civil society organisations in the UN system and the vital work of educating young people to develop a global mindset.
After lunching in the Palais des Nations cafeteria, just like UN staff, the tour visited the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) to hear from the indefatigable Hon. Melissa Parke (Executive Director) about the urgency for Member States to disarm and abolish nuclear weaponry.
Last stop for the day was at the World Health Organization for a briefing with WHO Spokesperson, Tarik Jasarevic, covering the newly forged Global Pandemic Agreement and the battle to combat misinformation in the global health arena.
