Government House Model UN Conference for Victorian Teachers

Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria is hosting an historic Model United Nations Conference at Government House on Tuesday 6 June, 2017. The United Nations Association of Australia (Victoria Division) invites Victorian teachers to participate. There is no cost for participating schools.

A Model UN Conference (MUNC) is a creative simulation of the UN General Assembly in which participants represent UN member states, discuss global issues and practice their diplomacy skills in a fun, dynamic environment. In teams of 3 or 4. delegates will negotiate a new UN Resolution on Achieving Gender Equality: Empowering Women and Girls.

This MUNC is designed to provide teachers with a professional development opportunity to learn new skills and pedagogies in the fields of Humanities and VCE Global Politics.

While we are targeting Victorian teachers, we do understand that not all schools may be able to send a full team of 3 or 4 teachers so we welcome schools to register and allow senior students to make up a team as long as there is at least 1 teacher from the respective school represented in the team. Teams are made up of a maximum of 4 people. We can only guarantee the involvement of one team of 4 per school, so please only register for the one team at this stage. If it is possible to include more people we will contact you following registrations.

Registrations for this exciting opportunity are now open, please follow the online form here to register for this event. Registrations for this event have just been extended and will now be closing Friday 28 April. If you have any questions about the Government House Model UN Conference, please contact Education Program Coordinator Alexandra Edge on the below email or on (03) 9607 1363. We look forward to having your school involved.
