The Global Education Program has hit the ground running this year around Victoria in metropolitan and regional areas. The UNAAV has travelled to seven host schools and has delivered a Model UN to over 800 students, all coming together to discuss topics of Zero Hunger, Pathways to Peace, Planet Ocean, Space Research and Sustainable Development, Enough is Enough: Ending Global Violence Against Women and Girls and Combating Climate Change.
All participating schools and students have been fantastic, with in-depth research and amazing public speaking skills whilst having interesting and complex discussions on the chosen topics. In the current climate of uncertain global politics and shifting priorities, the students have been outstanding in navigating the tough task of diplomacy and negotiations whilst maintaining their role as a delegate of their country.
We would like the thank and congratulate all supporting schools, teachers, students and our dedicated Secretary-Generals for being part of our program and providing a glimpse into the work of the United Nations.
A special thanks to the Department of Education- Strategic Partnership Program for their support at the host schools of Geelong High School, Beechworth Secondary College and Dandenong High School. We also thank Ivanhoe Grammar School, McKinnon Secondary College, Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) and Brighton Grammar School for their generosity in hosting the Model UNs.
