Each year on June 5, the United Nations celebrates World Environment Day. On this day, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) seeks to focus world attention on environmental issues.

Each year since 2000, in honour of World Environment Day the United Nations Association of Australia has presented World Environment Day Awards to individuals, environmental organisations, schools, councils, businesses and the media leading the way in environmental innovation.

The preeminent national Awards play an important role in raising awareness about key environmental issues and challenges, inspiring and motivating individuals, organisations and businesses to take positive steps towards sustainability and environmental excellence.

Entries are invited across Australia.
