Last Thursday, 18 June 2026, on a wild winter’s evening in Melbourne, UNAA Victoria and the City of Melbourne welcomed guests to the third event of the Climate and SDG event series, Climate and Health: implications and actions for young people in Melbourne.
In collaboration with UNAA Victoria Future Leaders Network and Climate CATCH Lab, we hosted another sold out audience who were fortunate to hear City of Melbourne Councillor Davydd Griffiths, portfolio lead for Environment and portfolio deputy for Community, Health and City Services, launch the event and promote the importance of achieving the SDGs here in Melbourne.
We thank our insightful opening speakers; Hannah Morrice (Climate CATCH Lab) and Dr Hasini Gunasiri (Orygen) who spoke about their work and provided valuable context for the conversations around climate and health later in the night.
Thank you also to our moderators for the event, Dr Chethana Mudunna and Sunny Nguyen who skilfully queried our spectacular panel of speakers Paul Stark, Bianca Lau-Goodchild and Dr Katitza Chavez. We are so grateful to all our panel speakers for sharing their insights about SDG 13 & SDG3 and how it impacts young people at a local level.
To round off the evening, a special thanks to the team at Climate for Change for facilitating the interactive workshop, where participants were able to brainstorm ideas that support climate action.
