Watan Film Screening & Panel Discussion

Join the UNAA Victorian Young Professionals for a screening of Watan followed by a panel discussion with one of the directors.

Watan (Homeland) is a 52-minute documentary that looks beyond the rhetoric and into the human cost of the Syrian refugee crisis. Intimate portraits of refugees in the camps and cities of Jordan reveal a very human struggle for normalcy and dignity in a situation that is everything but.

The evening provides a platform to discuss the biggest humanitarian and refugee crisis of our time in Syria, and the global refugee crisis more broadly.

We hope to not only raise awareness about the plight of refugees and build empathy but also change the way we, as a society, think about refugees.

We will also be collecting donations for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) to contribute to their work in supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Australia.

More information about the panelists will be added shortly.

In the meantime you can watch a snippet of Watan here and follow their Facebook page here.
