Since 2012, there has been a marked increase in the number of state-based conflicts around the world to 50 in 2015 – which is the second highest number since 1945. This is leading to an increased focus on the need for all countries including Australia to promote international conflict prevention and peace building.
Professor John Langmore has led a multi-country review of the way in which seven other nation states are approaching this responsibility; and has just begun a review of lessons Australian’s could learn from their experiences with peace processes.
John will update members on the major findings and recommendations for Australia’s future role.
