13 February: Global Climate Action – COP 24 and the year ahead
UNAA Victoria invites you to this important panel discussion as we move between the achievements of COP 24 in December 2018 to the UN Climate Summit in September 2019.
“Katowice has shown once more the resilience of the Paris Agreement, our solid roadmap for climate action,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The UN Climate summit aims to “challenge states, regions, cities, companies, investors and citizens to step up action” in six areas: energy transition; climate finance and carbon pricing; industry transition; nature-based solutions; cities and local action and resilience.
What will be the impact on Australian Government policy? Will corporate players continue to sign up to new initiatives embracing renewable energy and investment?
Expert speakers who attended COP24 will lead this discussion, which will be moderated by Emily Gerrard, leading Climate Change lawyer and Director of the Comhar Group.
Patrick Suckling, Ambassador for the Environment, Australian Government
Kate Dooley, Researcher, Austraiian-German Climate & Energy College, University of Melbourne
