Italian Language Model UN Conference for Victorian VCE Students
Following great success in the 2016 event, the Languages Unit, Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Victorian Association of Teachers of Italian (VATI) are excited to announce that they will again be hosting a Italian Model UN Conference on Tuesday 15 August, 2017 on the very important topic of Combating Climate Change: Committing to Global Action. The event will be held at Treasury Theatre, 1 MacArthur Place, Lower Plaza, East Melbourne VIC 3002. VCE Italian students are invited to participate. There is no costs for participating schools.
The Model UN Conference is a creative simulation of the UN General Assembly in which students represent member states of the UN. In teams of 3 or 4, students will try to negotiate a new UN Resolution on Combating Climate Change. The Model UN Conference is an opportunity for students to learn about the UN system, discuss global issues and practice their diplomacy skills in a fun, dynamic environment, while developing key negotiation and public speaking skills.
The Model UN Conference is being managed by the United Nations Association of Australia (Victorian Division) in partnership with VATI and the DET. It will run over the full school day and all proceedings will be in Italian. All student materials and instructions for teachers to prepare their students will be provided by the UNAA Victoria.
